Narromine Shire Council
A Central West shire on the Macquarie River about 40km west of Dubbo — around 6,400 people across Narromine, Trangie and Tomingley, spread over 5,261 km². The economy runs on irrigated and broadacre agriculture (cotton, cereals, wool, commercial nurseries) with gold mining at Tomingley, and the Narromine Aerodrome is one of Australia's best-known gliding centres, home to the country's oldest regional aero club and an aviation museum. Council seeks community input on an updated flood study for Narromine
Council opened consultation on an updated Floodplain Risk Management Study and Plan for Narromine, funded by the NSW Government and prepared by Lyall & Associates Consulting Water Engineers. It incorporates updated Macquarie River flood data, examines local stormwater flooding within the township and reviews the Culling Street levee.
What this means for you: Every residential and business property in the Narromine township and CBD was mailed a flood questionnaire, with responses due by Friday 7 August 2026 (reply-paid or online). A community information session was held at the Council Chambers on Tuesday 28 July 2026. The study will guide future flood management, emergency planning and land-use decisions.

2026 community satisfaction survey opens on Your Say Narromine
Council invited residents, ratepayers and non-ratepayers across the shire to complete its 2026 Satisfaction Survey, rating both the importance of and their satisfaction with Council services, programs and community facilities. The survey runs on Council's Your Say Narromine engagement platform and takes about 5–10 minutes.
What this means for you: This is the main scheduled opportunity to give Council structured feedback on services this year. Residents without internet access can complete it with staff assistance at the Customer Service and Payments Centre, 118 Dandaloo Street, Narromine.

Draft 2026/27 plans and budget placed on public exhibition
Council placed its draft plans for the 2026/27 financial year on public exhibition until Wednesday 10 June 2026. Listed projects included planning and early works for a new Narromine Water Treatment Plant, civil infrastructure at the Craigie Lea Industrial Estate, road upgrades and renewals, sewer upgrades, improvements to parks, aquatic centres and sporting facilities, housing development planning at Jones Circuit, and support for the 2026 Narromine Dolly Parton Festival.
What this means for you: The adopted 2026–27 Operational Plan sets a 3.4% rate peg, a 9.5% per annum interest rate on overdue rates, a $486 domestic waste charge per service, and over $27.5 million of capital works. Printed copies of the draft documents were placed at the Council Customer Service Centre, the Narromine and Trangie libraries and the BP Tomingley Roadhouse.

Final stage of the Narromine Heavy Vehicle Bypass begins
Council began works at the Gainsborough Road / Tomingley Road intersection — the last stage of the Narromine Heavy Vehicle Bypass, a project started in 2022. The upgrade adds left and right turn slip lanes into the western end of Gainsborough Road to handle heavy vehicle volumes.
What this means for you: The bypass is intended to keep heavy vehicles out of Dandaloo Street through the town centre. Council said works are mainly on the road shoulders with minimal disruption expected, and that construction would be suspended if not completed before the harvest period.
