Tarneit Road and Shaws Road intersection upgrade to start in October
The council has awarded the construction contract for the $10.8 million upgrade of the Tarneit Road and Shaws Road intersection in Werribee. Construction starts next month and will deliver a duplicated intersection with new traffic lights.

Kim McAliney elected Heathdale Ward councillor
Kim McAliney has been elected Heathdale Ward councillor at the 1 August 2026 by-election, which followed the resignation of Cr Jennie Barrera. She previously served on the council from 2005 to 2012 and from 2016 to June 2020.
What this means for you: If you live in Heathdale Ward, Cr McAliney is now your ward councillor.

Cr Mia Shaw elected Mayor for the rest of 2025–26
The councillors elected Cr Mia Shaw (Werribee Park Ward) as Mayor for the remainder of the 2025–26 mayoral term, after Cr Preet Singh resigned as Mayor. Cr Singh remains the Bemin Ward councillor.
What this means for you: The councillors will vote for the 2026–27 Mayor and Deputy Mayor at the Council Meeting on 11 November 2026.

The council adopted its Annual Plan and Budget 2026/27, with a $178.5 million capital works program of 82 projects and $515.9 million for services and programs.
