$4.5 million state funding for Croydon North Kindergarten redevelopment
The council will receive $4.5 million from the Victorian Government towards the $9 million redevelopment of Croydon North Kindergarten into an integrated children's centre, which will also house the Maternal and Child Health service. The council will contribute $4.5 million.
What this means for you: Planning for the project will start soon; the council says it will share more information as it progresses.

Bin lid changeover passes 33,000 lids
More than 33,000 bin lids had been changed since early August, with the program on schedule to finish at the end of October. General waste lids are changing from dark green to red and recycling lids from blue to yellow; FOGO lids stay lime-green.
What this means for you: Until both your lids are changed, put your general waste and recycling bins out on each recycling day and leave them out until 5pm. If they haven't been changed by Monday 26 October, call 1300 88 22 33.

$207,500 in community grants for 2026/27
The council will fund 38 community organisations with $207,500 through its 2026/27 Community Grants Program: 22 annual community grants, 14 emergency relief grants and two new multi-year Changemaker Grants. Quick Response Grants have been open since 1 July.
What this means for you: Not-for-profit groups and individuals can still apply for Quick Response Grants during the year.

2026–27 budget adopted: rates up 2.75% on average
The council adopted its 2026–27 budget on 18 May 2026, with $72.3 million of capital works. The average general rate rises 2.75%, the state cap; residential bin charges rise about 10% (to $514 for a 120-litre bin).
