Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing: roof on over the warm water pools
The roof is in place over the two warm water pools and the spa at the new Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing centre in Dandenong. The council says the centre is on track to open in 2027.

2026–27 budget adopted
The council adopted its 2026–27 budget on 15 June 2026, with $105.5 million of capital works, including $55.0 million for Oasis Aquatics and Wellbeing. General rates rise by the 2.75% state cap; the standard Residential Garbage Levy rises to $547.

- Waste
Council defers the purple glass bin and food and garden bin expansion
At its meeting on 15 June 2026 the council voted to defer the kerbside glass bin, and the move of the food and garden service to an 'opt-out' model, until the Victorian Government finalises its service standards. It will ask the state to reconsider the requirement and expand the Container Deposit Scheme.
What this means for you: No change to your bins for now: glass stays in the yellow-lid recycling bin.

Cr Sophie Tan elected Mayor for 2025–26
The councillors elected Cr Sophie Tan (Noble Park Ward) as Mayor of Greater Dandenong and Cr Phillip Danh (Yarraman Ward) as Deputy Mayor.
What this means for you: The councillors choose the Mayor each year. The next vote is at a special council meeting on 12 November 2026.
