Quarterly Community Report for April–June 2026 adopted
At its 15 September 2026 meeting, the council adopted its Quarterly Community Report for April to June 2026, the end of the first year of the Council Plan 2025–29. The council reports that all 63 actions in its 2025–26 Annual Action Plan were completed and 34 of 40 strategic indicators are on track.

$1 million state funding for the new Cranbourne Library
The Victorian Government has committed $1 million, through its Living Libraries Infrastructure Program 2026–27, to the new Cranbourne Library planned for the Cranbourne Hub in Lyall Street. The council expects construction to begin in early 2027 and the hub to open in 2029.

- Waste
Purple glass bins arriving from September 2026
Every Casey household will receive an 80-litre purple-lidded glass bin between 7 September and 20 November 2026. Glass collections start in November, every four weeks. Homes without a food and garden organics bin will get one from late November 2026.
What this means for you: Once your purple bin arrives, glass bottles and jars go in it, not in the yellow recycling bin.

Cr Michelle Crowther elected Mayor, Cr Anthony Walter Deputy Mayor
After Cr Stefan Koomen stepped down as Mayor on 18 August 2026, the councillors elected Cr Michelle Crowther (Cranbourne Gardens Ward) as Mayor and Cr Anthony Walter (Dillwynia Ward) as Deputy Mayor at a Special Council Meeting. They serve until the Annual Mayoral Election on 17 November 2026.
What this means for you: The councillors choose the Mayor. The next vote is at the Annual Council Meeting on 17 November 2026.

2026–27 Budget adopted: rates +2.75%, waste charge frozen
At its June 2026 meeting, the council adopted its 2026–27 Budget and Annual Action Plan. Average rates rise by 2.75%, the state cap. Councillors voted to keep the waste charge at the 2025–26 level, using an extra $4.4 million from the waste reserve. The budget totals $688 million, including $136.5 million for capital works.
