Strathbogie Shire Council
Strathbogie Shire Council covers about 3,300 km² of central Victoria, between the Strathbogie Ranges and the Goulburn River, and is home to about 11,800 people, mostly in and around Euroa, Nagambie, Avenel, Violet Town and Longwood. Seven councillors, elected across the whole shire, choose the Mayor each year. The council runs your bins, local roads, parks and planning, and sets your rates. Have your say on the final draft Urban Growth Strategy
The council is seeking feedback on the final draft Urban Growth Strategy, which will guide future housing, township growth and urban development. It says the draft prioritises development on existing serviced land and refines township growth boundaries.
What this means for you: Feedback is open until Monday 30 October 2026 online, by email or by post (PO Box 177, Euroa VIC 3666).

Free firewood available to all shire residents
Residents and ratepayers can book to collect three cubic metres of split firewood from the Nagambie Transfer Station, from timber cleared after January's Longwood Berrys Lane bushfire. The wood is still green and won't be ready to burn until next winter.
What this means for you: Collections are on Wednesdays 9am–2pm and Saturdays 1pm–4pm; book through the council's Bushfire Recovery page or on 1800 065 993, and load by hand.

Fire prevention roadside spraying underway
The council's contractor is spraying about 900 km of roadsides to reduce fire fuel ahead of the fire season, with works expected to continue to late October depending on conditions.
What this means for you: Treated roadside grass will turn brown. The roads in the program are on the council's online map (strathbogie.pozi.com, Roadside Spraying layer).

Sixteen community projects share $141,897 in grants
The council's Community Strengthening and Sustainability Grants round funded 16 of 26 applications, which sought $243,000 in total. Projects include a trial weekly bus between Strathbogie and Euroa and heritage signage in Avenel.

Proposed 21-year lease for the Euroa Caravan Park
The council proposes to renew the lease of the Euroa Caravan Park, on Crown land it manages at 73–103 Kirkland Avenue, with the current operator for 21 years, with rent based on turnover and reinvested in the Sevens Creek Reserve. Submissions were open from 19 August to 9 September 2026.
What this means for you: The council says staff will report on the submissions to inform its decision; submitters who asked to be heard will be offered a meeting.
