Glen Waverley Civic Precinct: new path to the council office
A new pathway from Kingsway to the council office entrance is open while the new Glen Waverley Library is built. Visitors with accessibility needs should use the Springvale Road entrance, which has accessible parking.
What this means for you: If you're visiting the Civic Centre during construction (until July 2028), check the project page for the current entrances and parking.

The council is asking residents for their priorities and ideas for its 2027–28 budget. Submissions are open on Shape Monash until Sunday 11 October 2026.
What this means for you: If you want to suggest a project or service for next year's budget, you can do it online on Shape Monash before 11 October.

2026–27 budget adopted, with a new separate waste charge
The council adopted its 2026–27 budget on 26 May 2026: $250 million for services and $86.5 million for capital works, including $32.5 million to start the new Glen Waverley Library. The budget brings in a separate waste charge on rates notices, with a 40% concession for eligible pensioners.

Cr Stuart James elected Mayor for 2025–26
The councillors elected Cr Stuart James (Warrigal Ward) as Mayor of Monash for 2025–26, and Cr Elisha Lee (Jells Ward) as Deputy Mayor.
What this means for you: The councillors choose the Mayor each year. The next vote is at the council meeting on 10 November 2026.
