The council's stated direction
Wodonga's direction is set by the Wodonga 2050 Community Vision and the Council Plan 2025–2029. The council's budget states its vision as: 'A vibrant, well-planned city where people, nature and opportunity thrive through connection, resilience and leadership.' The Mayor's introduction to the 2026–27 budget names three growth areas: Baranduda–Leneva, the city centre and the Logic industrial estate.
The Council Plan 2025–2029 has four strategic objectives: Liveable and connected communities; Thriving local economy; Resilient infrastructure and environment; and Effective leadership and sustainable future. The council publishes a mid-year progress snapshot for the Plan's first year on its Council Plan page.
The 2026–27 budget, adopted unanimously on 22 June 2026, raises average general rates by 2.38% (below the 2.75% cap) and funds a $44.45 million capital works program. Named items include continued planning for the Senior Citizens Centre / Community Hub redevelopment, the Kelly Park netball pavilion, the Roche Drive extension at Logic, Woodland Street drainage, and road, footpath and bridge renewals.

Community Fresh Food Swap pilot
Monthly, September 2026 to February 2027A six-month pilot of free monthly swaps of homegrown fruit, vegetables, herbs, seeds and cuttings, held on the second Saturday of each month at Hyphen – Wodonga Library Gallery. No money changes hands; participants bring their own produce.

Kerbside soft plastics recycling pilot
National pilot; household numbers cappedThrough Halve Waste, Wodonga residents can register for a kerbside soft plastics pilot: soft plastics collected in council-supplied orange bags go in the yellow-lid recycling bin. Halve Waste says the program began with about 2,000 households in Albury and Wodonga in late 2022 and is part of a national pilot managed by Soft Plastic Stewardship Australia.

Planning continues in 2026–27The 2026–27 budget continues planning for the redevelopment of the Wodonga Senior Citizens Centre as a community hub, with $550,000 in the capital works program. The council has a project page on its Make Wodonga Yours engagement site.
Roche Drive extension, Logic industrial estate
Funded in the 2026–27 capital works programAn extension of Roche Drive at the Logic industrial estate in Barnawartha North, with $1.81 million in the 2026–27 budget. The Mayor's introduction to the budget names Logic as one of the city's three growth areas.
