Waste & recycling

When your bins go out, and how Warren Shire handles waste across Warren, Nevertire and Collie. Council has run a single weekly red-lidded general-waste collection in those three places, with everything else self-hauled to the Ewenmar Waste Depot. That changes this spring: after a 2026 community survey, Council approved a fortnightly kerbside recycling service with Council-owned 240-litre yellow-lid bins, delivered from Friday 11 September 2026 with first collections on Wednesday 7 October 2026. Bin day is a fixed timetable by area — in Warren it depends on which side of Dubbo Street you live on — rather than a street-address lookup.

Bin collection at a glance

General waste (red lid)
WeeklyTuesday collection (bins out Monday night): properties on and south of Dubbo Street, plus the village of Nevertire. Friday collection (bins out Thursday night): properties north of Dubbo Street, plus the village of Collie. Properties on the northern side of Dubbo Street between Burton Street and Readford Street are in the Friday area. The 2026/27 Domestic Waste Charge is $415 a year ($70 for vacant land in the collection area).
Recycling (yellow lid)
Fortnightly — new service from Wednesday 7 October 2026Council-owned 240-litre yellow-lid bins are being delivered to eligible properties in Warren, Nevertire and Collie from Friday 11 September 2026 by contractor JR Richards & Sons; the first fortnightly collection is 7 October 2026. Eligibility follows the existing weekly general-waste service — call (02) 6847 6600 to check a property. The service is funded by a separate Waste Recycling Charge of $150 a year (2026/27 Operational Plan). Before this service there was no kerbside recycling bin in the Shire.
Food & garden organics (green lid)
Not offeredWarren Shire Council does not run a FOGO or green-lidded organics kerbside bin. Council has not published a plan to introduce one.
Bulky / hard waste
No fixed schedule — occasional 'large garbage collections' in Warren, Nevertire and CollieCouncil says large garbage collections occur in the three collection towns "as deemed necessary" and that residents are notified when they are due. Outside those, self-hauled loads are charged at the Ewenmar Waste Depot's gate fees — for 2026/27, household furniture including whitegoods and mattresses is $6 an item and a trailer of mixed commercial or building waste is $19.
Problem waste & drop-off
Ewenmar Waste Depot, near Warren — plus used-oil and container drop-off in townThe depot opens Monday to Friday 1pm-5pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am-5pm (closed in wet weather and on some public holidays), and takes cardboard for recycling in bins beside the main pit. It is licensed for bonded asbestos by appointment only — $255 per cubic metre up to 1m3 and $103 per cubic metre above that in 2026/27. A used-oil collection point sits at the Council Depot, 15 Dubbo Street, open 7 days. Return and Earn container refunds are over the counter at Jo's Cotton Cafe, 179 Dubbo Street, 8am-11am, 7 days. Council does not publish a dedicated Community Recycling Centre for paints, batteries and chemicals — ask Council where to take those.

Kerbside collection covers the town of Warren and the villages of Nevertire and Collie; properties outside the collection area use the Ewenmar Waste Depot, and non-domestic land outside it pays an annual Waste Depot Access Charge ($155 in 2026/27). Frequencies, charges and gate fees change each year — confirm on the official sources below. The Ewenmar Waste Depot page on Council's site still lists 2024/2025 asbestos fees; the adopted 2026/27 Fees and Charges schedule is the current one.
