Mayor & councillors

Warren Shire is divided into four wards — A, B, C and D — and each elects three councillors by proportional representation, for twelve in total. The councillors elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor from among themselves (Warren does not have a popularly elected mayor); at the Ordinary Meeting of 10 October 2024, Cr Greg Whiteley was elected Mayor unopposed and Cr Sarah Derrett was elected Deputy Mayor unopposed. Council meets eleven times a year, on the fourth Thursday of the month at 8.30am in the Council Chambers at 115 Dubbo Street, Warren — there is no November meeting and an early December meeting instead — and all meetings are open to the public and filmed. Council publishes a direct phone number and email for most councillors.

An elected council — no administratorWarren Shire is governed by its twelve elected councillors. It is not among the councils listed on the Office of Local Government's investigations and interventions pages, and Council's own site publishes current councillor profiles, monthly meeting business papers and a monthly "From the Mayor's Desk" column (most recently August 2026).

Party labels are those each councillor was elected under at the September 2024 election (NSW Electoral Commission) — 6 of the 12 were declared with an Independent (IND) group code, and the NSWEC results for Greg Whiteley, Noel Kinsey, Pauline Serdity, Bob McKay, Dirk McCloskey and Tony Wass show no group code, so their affiliation is left blank here rather than guessed. Three of the four wards were uncontested in 2024, so no votes were cast in them. Casual vacancies can change the makeup, so the council's official page has the most current list.
