Elections & voting
Moira Shire did not hold a council election in October 2024, when the rest of Victoria voted: its council had been dismissed by an Act of Parliament in March 2023 and is run by state-appointed administrators. Its next general election is in October 2028, with the statewide council elections. Victorian council elections are held every four years and all voting is by post: the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) mails a ballot pack to every enrolled voter. Voting is compulsory for people on the roll.
