The council's stated direction
Griffith City Council's direction is set out in its Community Strategic Plan ('We are Griffith 2025–2035') and a Delivery Program 2025/26–2028/29 with an annual Operational Plan and budget, focused on the region's agribusiness economy, water security and growing the regional centre.
The council manages local roads, water and waste, libraries, parks, an art gallery, a regional theatre and airport, and planning across a large, mostly rural LGA anchored by the town of Griffith in the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area. Its Delivery Program is the elected council's statement of commitment for its term.
The Delivery Program funds the council's annual capital works program; a two-year Special Rate Variation (2024–25 and 2025–26) was approved by IPART to lift rates income toward infrastructure and service costs.
