Waste & recycling

Waste & recycling

When your bins go out, and how Canada Bay handles recycling, food/garden organics and bulky waste. The city runs a general-waste bin collected weekly and a recycling bin collected fortnightly. A food-organics and garden-organics (FOGO) service — weekly collection of food scraps and garden waste combined — is currently running as a trial in selected apartment buildings in Rhodes and Concord West; the council's 2026–27 Operational Plan and budget flags introducing a wider FOGO service ahead of the NSW Government's 2030 statewide mandate, but a citywide rollout date hasn't been confirmed. To find your exact collection day, use the council's online Collection Calendar tool.
