Waste & recycling
When your bins go out, and how Bogan Shire handles rubbish and recycling. Kerbside collection is a Nyngan service: the council says it "provides a weekly garbage collection service in Nyngan and maintains the waste disposal depots in Nyngan and the three villages" (Girilambone, Hermidale and Coolabah). Recycling in Nyngan is collected fortnightly and the material goes to Carlginda Enterprises at Gilgandra. There is no green-lidded food-and-garden-organics bin here. Everything else — hard rubbish, green waste, scrap metal, e-waste — goes to the Nyngan Waste & Resource Facility on Canonba Road, which is open four days a week. Your collection day is on the council's residential waste collection calendar, linked below.

Bin collection at a glance
- General waste (red lid)
- Weekly (Nyngan)Council asks that bins face the street so the lid closes properly when the arm returns it upright. Extra items placed beside the bin are not collected — take them to the waste facility instead. Do not put heavy objects or hot ashes in the bin.
- Recycling (yellow lid)
- Fortnightly (Nyngan)Recyclable material is sent to Carlginda Enterprises at Gilgandra. Council publishes a Recycling Information Pack and a recycling flyer on its Bin Collection page.
- Food & garden organics (green lid)
- Not offeredBogan Shire does not run a FOGO or green-bin kerbside service. Lawn clippings can be dropped at the Nyngan Waste & Resource Facility free of charge; green waste containing tree limbs or tree material is charged by load (from $41.40 for a single-axle trailer load, 2026/27).
- Bulky / hard waste
- No kerbside collection — self-haul to the Nyngan Waste & Resource FacilityCouncil publishes no free kerbside bulky-waste service, and items left beside the wheelie bin are not collected. At the facility, scrap metal, degassed whitegoods, hot water services and car bodies are free; mattresses are $16.50 (small) or $33.10 (large/lounge) and carpet is $41.35 per four rolls (2026/27 adopted fees).
