The council's Council Plan 2025–2029 gives a population of approximately 6,556, from an earlier source than the ABS 2025 estimate used here. The council acknowledges the Wotjobaluk, Jaadwa, Jadawadjali, Wergaia and Jupagulk people as the Traditional Owners of the lands and waterways of the Shire.
