Mayor & councillors

Wentworth Shire is an undivided (at-large) council: its nine councillors are elected across the whole local government area by proportional representation, rather than by ward. The councillors elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor from among themselves (Wentworth does not have a popularly elected mayor). Council meets monthly, generally on the third Wednesday at 5:00pm in the Council Chambers on Darling Street, Wentworth, and meetings are open to the public. Cr Daniel LinklaterElected Mayor by the councillors. A Gol Gol farmer, previously Deputy Mayor; the council's profile page records that he was also elected Mayor at the September 2023 mayoral election of the previous council.

Casual vacancy filled in 2025
Cr Brian Beaumont, declared elected by countback on 12 August 2025The vacancy followed the death of Cr Timothy Elstone. The council resolved at its first meeting after the 2024 election that vacancies be filled by countback of the 2024 ballot papers rather than a by-election.

Party labels are those each councillor was elected under at the September 2024 election (NSW Electoral Commission) — the NSWEC declaration shows an Independent (IND) code for five of the nine seats and no group code at all for Peter Crisp, Greg Evans, Jo Rodda and Jody Starick, so their affiliation is left blank here rather than guessed. Cr Brian Beaumont took his seat by countback in August 2025 and the NSWEC's published declaration page does not show a group code for him either, so his is also blank. Casual vacancies can change the makeup, so the council's official page has the most current list.
