Report a problem to the council
Walgett Shire Council does not publish an online "report a problem" form, so the fastest route is the phone or the counter. Below is where to report each type of issue across Walgett, Lightning Ridge and Collarenebri, which things are not the council's job, and an independent app that works for any council.
How to report it
- Report to the council (official)
- (02) 6828 6100 or admin@walgett.nsw.gov.auOne number covers roads, water and sewer, waste, animals and general customer service. For urgent matters outside office hours, call the same number and follow the prompts for after-hours assistance.Call the council →
- In person

- Not always the council's job
- Faulty street lights and power faults → Essential Energy 13 20 80Essential Energy is the electricity distributor for north-west NSW; it maintains and repairs the street-light network. Council lists 13 20 80 as the Essential Energy contact in its emergency information.
- Flood, storm and emergencies
- Triple Zero (000); SES 132 500Council's emergency information page directs residents to 000 in an emergency and to the NSW SES on 132 500 for help during a flood or storm.
For urgent safety hazards, call rather than emailing. Snap Send Solve is an independent third-party app (not run by the council) that routes your report to the responsible authority. If you need an interpreter, Council lists the free TIS National service on 131 450.
