Waste & recycling
Walcha runs one kerbside collection day for the whole serviced area, so there is no address lookup to do: put your bins out on Wednesday night and they are emptied on Thursday morning. Three bins are in use — a red-lidded general waste bin, a yellow-lidded recycling bin and a green-lidded "organic only" bin. The red bin goes every week; the yellow and green bins take turns on alternating Thursdays, which is what the council's Waste Collections Calendar sets out week by week. Everything the kerbside bins can't take goes to the Walcha Waste Facility on Aerodrome Road, which is gated and charges gate fees for some loads, and the rural villages of Woolbrook and Nowendoc have their own fob-access transfer facilities.
