Waste & recycling
When your bins go out, and how Wagga Wagga City Council handles recycling and bulky waste. The council runs a three-bin kerbside service, but with a different rhythm to most Sydney councils: a green-lid food-and-garden organics (FOGO) bin collected weekly, a yellow-lid recycling bin collected fortnightly, and a red-lid general-waste bin collected fortnightly (red and yellow alternate). The green FOGO bin takes both food scraps and garden waste — households also get a kitchen caddy and compostable liners — so Wagga already runs the combined food-organics service that NSW is mandating for all councils by 2030. Residents can also book one free hard-waste (bulky) collection per year, and drop off other material at the Gregadoo Waste Management Centre. To find your collection day, use the council's 'What is my bin day' page.
