Waste & recycling

When your bin goes out, and how waste and recycling work across Temora, Ariah Park and Springdale. Temora Shire's kerbside service is a single mobile garbage bin, collected weekly — the council's waste page states it provides and charges for 52 collections a year for each residence. There is no kerbside recycling bin and no green food-and-garden-organics bin: household recycling is taken to the Temora Lions Club depot in Melaleuca Street, which accepts paper, cardboard, glass and aluminium cans seven days a week, and the Lions Club runs a paper-bin collection on the last Sunday of each month. Collection days changed from the week beginning Tuesday 7 July 2026 after new subdivisions were added to the routes, so it is worth re-checking yours on the council's Garbage Collection Day Map.

Bin collection at a glance

General waste (red lid)
WeeklyCouncil provides and charges for 52 collections a year for each residence, using the mobile bin service. Only waste stored in the bin is collected. Council asks residents to put bins out the night before, because routes start early and the crew cannot return.
Recycling (yellow lid)
Not offered as a kerbside bin — drop-off at the Lions Club depotTemora Lions Club Inc. operates a recycling depot in Melaleuca Street, Temora for paper, cardboard, glass and aluminium cans, open seven days a week; proceeds go back into the community. Clear, green and amber bottles and glass jars are accepted (lids off, rinsed); window/windscreen glass, heat-treated glass, light globes, mirrors, china and ceramics are not. Free paper bins are also available from the council, collected by the Lions Club on the last Sunday of each month.
Not offeredThe council's waste and recycling page lists no kerbside organics or green-waste bin. The NSW Government has legislated a food-organics service for all NSW households by July 2030, so this is worth re-checking with the council.
Bulky / hard waste
No kerbside bulky-waste collection is advertised — self-haul to the tipThe council's waste page lists no free or on-call kerbside bulky collection; larger items go to the Temora landfill in Teal Street, where waste disposal charges apply and vary by type and quantity (see the fees and charges schedule). Confirm with the council before assuming a service exists.

Garbage Collection Day Map (PDF) / (02) 6980 1100From the week beginning Tuesday 7 July 2026 the schedule is: Tuesday morning — Airport Estate, Ellersile Estate, Industrial Estate, Hoskins Street businesses; Wednesday morning — residential east of the railway line and Dustin Rose Estate (excluding Highfields Estate, Bundawarrah, Rosella Street and Delavan Street); Thursday morning — residential west of the railway line (excluding Ellersile and Airport Estates) and Hoskins Street businesses; Thursday afternoon — Ariah Park; Friday morning — Highfields Estate, Bundawarrah and Springdale.

Missed bins should be reported to the council on (02) 6980 1100. Bin frequencies, landfill hours and disposal fees change — confirm your collection day and current charges on the official sources below. Note that the council's own page currently carries two different landfill opening-hours lists and two versions of the collection schedule (the map and the newer 7 July 2026 list are the ones to rely on).
