Temora Shire is an undivided (at-large) council: its nine councillors are elected across the whole local government area by proportional representation, rather than by ward. The councillors elect the Mayor and Deputy Mayor from among themselves — there was no mayoral contest at the 2024 election, so Temora does not have a popularly elected mayor. Council meets on the third Thursday of each month at 4pm in the Council Chambers, 105 Loftus Street, with a public forum at 3.30pm for residents who have lodged the public forum form 24 hours ahead.
