The council's stated direction
Sutherland Shire's plans are set out in its Community Plan (Towards 2035), a Delivery Program 2025–2029 and an annual Operational Plan, with the 2026/27 Delivery Program & Operational Plan adopted in mid-2026.
The council delivers services across roads and infrastructure, waste, beaches and natural areas, libraries and community facilities, and planning. Its Delivery Program is the elected council's statement of commitment for its term.
The council's plan funds a capital works program of more than $95M, including the Cronulla Town Centre upgrade and the FOGO/Community Recycling Centre program.

FOGO rollout & Community Recycling Centres
from late 2026The council is introducing a food-and-garden-organics (FOGO) service — described as the biggest change to domestic waste in a generation — and planning new Community Recycling Centres at Kurnell and Kareela.
