Waste & recycling

When your bins go out, and how Strathfield Council handles recycling and clean-ups. The council runs a three-bin kerbside service: a red-lid general-waste bin collected weekly, a yellow-lid recycling bin collected fortnightly, and a green-lid garden-organics bin collected fortnightly (the yellow and green bins alternate week to week). The green bin is garden organics only — Strathfield doesn't yet run a combined food-and-garden (FOGO) service; the NSW-wide FOGO mandate applies by 2030, and the council has flagged planning for the service in its long-term financial plan. Residents can also book up to three free on-call 'Strathfield Clean Up' collections a year. To find your collection day, use the council's bin-collection page.
