Elections & voting
Victorian council elections are held every four years on the fourth Saturday of October and are conducted entirely by post by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC). Voting is compulsory for everyone on the roll. Southern Grampians votes as a single unsubdivided area: all seven councillors are elected together, by proportional representation.

- One countback: Tamasyn Ramsay-Grounds elected on 11 May 2026Filling the vacancy left by Albert Calvano's resignation on 9 April 2026. She stood in 2024 as Tam Ramsay. The previous council term had a countback in May 2023.
- Who can vote
- Residents on the state roll, plus ratepayers who applyProperty owners and occupiers who pay rates but don't live in the Shire can apply to join the council roll — the council notes enrolment is now by application only, at any time. Once on the roll, they must vote.
