The council's stated direction
Snowy Monaro's direction is set out in the Snowy Monaro 2042 Community Strategic Plan and a Delivery Program 2025–2029 (with annual Operational Plan and budget), shaped by financial sustainability, growth around Jindabyne, and major state infrastructure projects in the region.
The council manages local roads, waste, water and sewer, planning and community facilities across one of NSW's largest LGAs by area, spanning the Snowy Mountains and Monaro tablelands. Its Delivery Program is the elected council's statement of commitment for its term, tested against a Long-Term Financial Plan.
The council is in the final years of an IPART-approved multi-year special rate variation adopted to help restore financial sustainability and fund infrastructure renewal, and it is delivering major water and sewer upgrades alongside the state-led Snowy Mountains Special Activation Precinct at Jindabyne.
