Crime & safety
Victoria's crime statistics come from the Crime Statistics Agency (CSA), which publishes offences recorded by Victoria Police for every local government area. Below are the offences recorded in the Borough of Queenscliffe in the 12 months from July 2025 to June 2026, for 11 offence groups, each with its rate per 100,000 people next to the rate for Victoria as a whole. The 'vs Victoria' column is the Borough's rate divided by the Victorian rate: 1.0 means the same as Victoria, below 1.0 is lower, above 1.0 is higher. The Borough has about 3,300 residents, so most counts here are single digits — read the rates with that in mind.

Safety at a glance
- Reporting period
- July 2025 to June 2026 (12 months)CSA's latest annual release. CSA updates its figures quarterly.
- Why the rates swing
- One offence moves the rate by roughly 30 per 100,000With about 3,300 residents (about 27 per 100,000 at the population CSA uses for its rates), a single recorded offence shifts the Borough's rate a long way, so rates can change a lot from one year to the next. That is why we give no overall 'below / above Victoria' summary for this council.
- Masked counts
- Sexual offences: 1–3, masked by CSATo protect confidentiality CSA does not publish sexual-offence counts of 3 or fewer; it enters them as 2 for totals. We show '1–3' and don't calculate a rate or a comparison from it.
- Zero counts
- Robbery and steal from a retail store: 0 recordedNothing was recorded in these groups this year. No rate comparison is shown for a zero count.
- Recorded, not convicted
- Offences recorded by Victoria PoliceA recorded offence is not a charge, prosecution or conviction, and counts move with reporting and policing activity as well as with offending.
- Local policing
- Victoria Police — Geelong Police Service AreaThe Borough sits within the Geelong Police Service Area in CSA's data; the rates shown are CSA's LGA rates, not the wider service-area rates. Emergencies: 000. Police Assistance Line: 131 444.

These are offences recorded by Victoria Police, not convictions, and with about 3,300 residents a single offence moves the rate by roughly 30 per 100,000 — rates here swing a lot from year to year, so a single year says little on its own. We compare with Victoria only; CSA and NSW's BOCSAR classify offences differently, so these figures are not comparable with NSW council pages. The offence groups are ours, built from CSA offence codes: family violence assault = A211 + A231; non-family-violence assault = A212 + A232; sexual offences = A30; robbery = A51 + A52; residential burglary = B311 + B321; non-residential burglary = B312 + B322; motor vehicle theft = B41; steal from a motor vehicle = B42; steal from a retail store = B43; other theft = B44 + B49; property damage = B21 + B22 + B29. CSA calculates its rates using Victorian Government population estimates, not the ABS figure in our profile. Data: Crime Statistics Agency (CSA), CC BY 4.0.
