The council's stated direction
Nambucca Valley Council's direction is set out in its Community Strategic Plan 2022/23–2032/33 and a Delivery Program with an annual Operational Plan and budget, with a strong focus on financial sustainability, keeping ageing infrastructure maintained, and unlocking new industrial and residential land now that the Pacific Highway bypasses the valley's towns.
The council manages local roads, bridges, waste, water and sewer, libraries, parks and planning across a largely rural Mid North Coast LGA of coastal towns and river-valley villages. Its Delivery Program is the elected council's statement of commitment for its term, and its financial strategy responds to below-benchmark asset-renewal and maintenance ratios.
The council deferred a proposed special rate variation from 2025–26 to 2026–27 as part of its financial-sustainability planning; its published rate-peg and SRV position should be checked against the council's rates page and IPART.

Stage 1 land release expected 2026The council is developing the Valla Urban Growth Area, a mixed-use precinct near the Pacific Highway, to release new industrial and residential land. Stage 1 is being funded through a combined $11.2 million from the Australian and NSW Governments plus a further $17 million contribution from the council; Buuluga Road was reported as due for sealing in May 2026, with Stage 1 industrial land expected to be released to the market later in 2026.

Financial sustainability & asset renewal
Deferred SRV to 2026–27The council's asset-maintenance and building/infrastructure-renewal ratios sit below the OLG benchmarks. As part of addressing this, the council resolved in 2024 to defer a proposed special rate variation from 2025–26 to 2026–27 and later lodged an application with IPART; the current status should be confirmed with the council and IPART.
