Waste & recycling

When your bins go out, and how Murray River Council handles recycling and organics. The council runs a three-bin kerbside FOGO (Food Organics and Garden Organics) service, rolled out to its townships in 2022 with NSW Environmental Trust funding — ahead of the NSW-wide FOGO mandate for all households by 2030. The green-lid organics bin takes both food scraps and garden waste and is collected weekly; the red-lid general-waste bin and the yellow-lid recycling bin are each collected fortnightly. Households in the collection area also received a kitchen caddy. The service covers townships within the organics collection boundary — Moama, Mathoura, Barham, Moulamein, Murray Downs, Wakool and Tooleybuc. To find your collection day, use the council's find-my-bin-day page.
