2026–27 Budget: About $70.5 million of expenses and a $28.8 million capital works programAdopted 30 June 2026. Roads and bridges take $16.3 million of the capital program, including $3.1 million to start the Gipps Street Bridge replacement in Port Fairy. The Budget forecasts an underlying operating surplus of $0.78 million. Total rates and charges are budgeted at $30.2 million, including $3.9 million of revenue in lieu of rates from energy generators.
2025–26 result (council-reported): Operating surplus $5.9 million; underlying surplus $3.4 millionThe council says the result was boosted by the early receipt of $9.9 million of 2026–27 Commonwealth Financial Assistance Grant funding, and that it delivered $24.5 million of capital works (88% of the program).
