Waste & recycling

When your bins go out, and how Mid-Western Regional Council handles recycling and organics. The council runs a four-bin kerbside service in the towns of Mudgee, Gulgong, Rylstone and Kandos and the villages of Charbon and Clandulla: a food-and-garden organics (FOGO) bin and a general-waste (landfill) bin collected weekly, plus a co-mingled recycling bin and a separate paper-and-cardboard bin collected fortnightly. Because the FOGO bin already takes both food and garden waste, Mid-Western is ahead of the NSW-wide FOGO mandate (required for all households by 2030). Collected FOGO material is taken to the Dubbo Regional Organics Processing plant and turned into compost. To find your collection day, use the council's collection-day lookup.
