Macedon Ranges has 3 wards — East, South and West — each with three councillors, elected in October 2024 for the 2024–2028 term. Voters don't elect the Mayor directly: the councillors choose one of themselves, normally each November.

Mayor
Cr Cassy Borthwick (East Ward)Elected by the councillors at an unscheduled Council meeting on Tuesday 4 August 2026, after Cr Kate Kendall resigned from the office of Mayor with effect from 24 July 2026. Cr Kendall remains a councillor. Cr Borthwick serves for the rest of the mayoral term, which the council says ends on 18 November 2026.Council announcement →

Leave of absence
Cr Kate Kendall and Cr Dom BonannoOn 23 September 2026 the council approved leave for both councillors, who are standing as candidates at the 2026 Victorian State Election: Cr Kendall from 1 October 2026 until the result for the District of Macedon is declared, and Cr Bonanno from 24 September to 30 November 2026. Victorian council ballot papers and results don't show party affiliation, so we don't label councillors. We list who holds office and link to each councillor's official profile, where the council gives their contact details, and to the election results. Ward boundaries don't follow town names exactly: the council notes that some Woodend addresses are in East Ward and some Riddells Creek addresses in South Ward, and its My Neighbourhood tool shows your ward. In a ward with more than one councillor, a vacancy is filled by a VEC countback of the last election's votes, not a by-election. For the latest list, see the council's page or the VEC.
