Waste & recycling
Loddon Shire runs a two-bin kerbside service: a red-lid rubbish bin collected every week and a yellow-lid recycling bin collected every fortnight, on the same day as your rubbish. The service is compulsory in townships and in low density residential and rural living zones; elsewhere it is optional and subject to availability. There is no food and garden organics (FOGO) bin and no glass bin — glass goes to drop-off points at the council's landfills and transfer stations. Bin collection at a glance
- Rubbish (red lid)
- Weekly, 140-litre binCommercial properties have a 240-litre red-lid bin. Put bins out the night before collection. Bins must not weigh more than 75 kg; no hot ashes, and wrap sharp objects.
- Recycling (yellow lid)
- Fortnightly, 240-litre binCollected on the same day as your rubbish bin, in 'week 1' or 'week 2' — the timetable shows which. You must have both a rubbish and a recycling service.
- Glass
- Drop-off points at all council waste facilities — no kerbside glass binThe council says it introduced glass disposal points at its waste facilities to avoid the cost of new kerbside glass bins, as a temporary measure until the state's kerbside reforms are finalised.
- Food & garden organics
- No kerbside organics binGreen waste can be taken to the council's landfills and transfer stations (free with a rates-notice voucher — see below). In May 2026 the council decided to delay moving to a four-bin system until the Victorian Government finalises its kerbside service standards, and says it expects planning and rollout to take about 18 months after that.

- Hard waste
- One kerbside collection a year, around Clean Up Australia Day (2026: from Monday 2 March)Only for properties with the compulsory kerbside service (Township, Low Density Residential and Rural Living zones). Items could go out on Sunday 1 March 2026 only. Limited to metal, e-waste, furniture and whitegoods, sorted into piles, no more than 1 cubic metre per household. - Free tip vouchers
- Four vouchers a year with your rates notice — up to 4 cubic metres eachTwo are valid 1 July–31 December and two 1 January–30 June; one voucher per visit. They cover green waste, mixed recyclables, general household waste and e-waste (including fridges, freezers and air conditioners). Tyres, bricks and concrete, and mattresses are charged at normal fees. Tenants should ask the property owner for the vouchers.Voucher details →
- Landfills and transfer stations
- Boort, Newbridge and Pyramid Hill landfills; Dingee, Inglewood and Wedderburn transfer stationsBoort: Tuesday 8am–12pm, Sunday 1pm–5pm. Newbridge: Wednesday and Sunday 1pm–5pm. Pyramid Hill: Tuesday 1pm–5pm, Sunday 8am–12pm. Inglewood: Wednesday and Saturday 8am–12pm. Wedderburn: Thursday and Sunday 8am–12pm. Dingee: 3rd Sunday 10am–2pm, plus the 1st Wednesday 8am–12pm from October to March. All sites close on public holidays and Catastrophic Fire Danger days. - E-waste
- Free drop-off at any council landfill or transfer station during opening hoursE-waste has been banned from Victorian landfill since 2019 and must not go in kerbside bins.
