Area profile
A quick snapshot of Loddon Shire, in north-central Victoria north-west of Bendigo. The council describes a municipality of many small towns, among them Bridgewater, Inglewood, Wedderburn, Serpentine, Tarnagulla, Boort and Pyramid Hill; the council offices are in Wedderburn. The Shire was formed on 19 January 1995 by amalgamating the former Shires of Gordon, East Loddon and Korong with parts of the Shires of Marong, Bet Bet, Tullaroop and Maldon. Its neighbours are Gannawarra (north), Campaspe and Greater Bendigo (east), Mount Alexander and Central Goldfields (south), and Northern Grampians and Buloke (west).

The locality list is our own overlay of Vicmap locality and postcode boundaries (September 2026) on the ABS council boundary, cross-checked against the council's own Towns list. The two differ in places: the council's list includes Bridgewater on Loddon but not the separate Vicmap localities of Bridgewater and Bridgewater North, and gives Auchmore postcode 3571 where Vicmap has 3570. The council acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land comprising the Loddon Shire Council area.
