Waste & recycling

When your bins go out, and how Lockhart Shire handles recycling and waste across Lockhart, The Rock, Yerong Creek, Pleasant Hills, Milbrulong and Osborne. Council runs a three-bin kerbside service inside the collection areas: a green-lidded food-and-garden-organics (FOGO) bin collected weekly, and a red-lidded general-waste bin and yellow-lidded recycling bin collected fortnightly. Collection is on a Wednesday, and the council publishes two printed calendars — one covering Lockhart, Pleasant Hills, Yerong Creek, Osborne and Milbrulong, and a separate one for The Rock. Outside the collection areas, the shire runs four landfill sites and issues every rates account two free tipping vouchers a year.
