Waste & recycling
When your bins go out, and how Lithgow City Council handles recycling and organics. The council runs a three-bin kerbside service: a red-lid general-waste bin collected weekly, a green-lid FOGO (food and garden organics) bin collected weekly, and a yellow-lid recycling bin collected fortnightly. Unlike many councils, Lithgow's green bin is a combined food-and-garden (FOGO) service, introduced in March 2024. Twice a year the council also runs scheduled bulky-waste and green-waste kerbside cleanups you register for. To find your collection day, use the council's waste calendar.
