The council's stated direction
Lake Macquarie's direction is set out in its Community Strategic Plan (Lake Mac 2035, effective July 2025), a Delivery Program and an annual Operational Plan & Budget — with the 2026–27 plan funding more than $111M of capital works.
The council delivers roads, waste, beaches, lakes and aquatic facilities, libraries, community and sporting facilities, and planning across a large lakeside city. Its Delivery Program is the elected council's statement of commitment for its term.
The 2026–27 Operational Plan & Budget funds more than $111M of capital works, including about $29.1M for roads, $11.1M for beach/lake/aquatic facilities and $10.6M for community and sporting facilities.
