City profile
Kingston is a municipality in Melbourne's middle and outer southern suburbs, about 20 km south-east of the CBD. It runs along Port Phillip Bay from Mentone and Mordialloc to Carrum and Patterson Lakes, and inland to Moorabbin, Clayton South and Dingley Village. The council describes it as one of Victoria's main employment centres, with Moorabbin Airport and a large industrial area.

These 22 suburbs are the council's own list. We checked each against the official Vicmap locality boundaries. Three are shared with neighbouring councils: about two-thirds of Cheltenham and about 42% of Highett are in Kingston (the rest is in Bayside), and about 42% of Oakleigh South (the rest is in Monash). The council's ward pages also mention Westall, which is a local area name, not an official locality. Postcodes come from the CSA's suburb and postcode table for Kingston. The shaded area on the map is the council boundary from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ASGS 2025) — the same boundary the ABS area and population figures are measured on.
