Elections & voting
Victorian council elections are held every four years on the fourth Saturday of October and are conducted entirely by post by the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC). Voting is compulsory for everyone on the roll. Hindmarsh has three wards — East, North and West — each electing two councillors by proportional representation; you vote only in your own ward.

- Chan Uoy and James Barry elected (3 candidates)First preferences: Chan Uoy 641 (53.73%), James Barry 311 (26.07%), Debra Nelson 241 (20.20%). Quota 398. Enrolment 1,439; formal votes 1,193; informal 12 (1.00%); turnout 1,205 (83.74% of enrolment).
- North Ward
- Tony Clark and Roger Aitken elected (3 candidates)First preferences: Tony Clark 430 (40.72%), Roger Aitken 388 (36.74%), Elizabeth Chivell 238 (22.54%). Quota 353. Enrolment 1,292; formal votes 1,056; informal 42 (3.83%); turnout 1,098 (84.98% of enrolment).

- None foundVEC's council page lists the same six councillors elected in 2024, and its by-elections and countbacks timeline shows no Hindmarsh vacancy since then (checked September 2026). In a two-councillor ward a vacancy is normally filled by a countback of the 2024 votes.

- Residents on the state roll, plus ratepayers who applyProperty owners, occupiers who pay rates, and company representatives who aren't state-enrolled in the Shire can apply to the council to join the council roll — once on it, they must vote.
