Waste & recycling

When your bins go out, and how Hawkesbury City Council handles recycling and bulky waste. The council runs a three-bin kerbside service: a red-lid general-waste bin collected weekly (fortnightly in some areas), a yellow-lid recycling bin collected fortnightly, and a green-lid garden-organics bin collected fortnightly on the alternate week to recycling. The green bin is garden organics only — Hawkesbury doesn't yet run a combined food-and-garden (FOGO) service, and the green bin is offered in selected urban areas rather than LGA-wide. Every household on the domestic collection service can book one free kerbside bulky-waste clean-up each financial year. To find your collection day, use the council's Bin Collection Day dashboard.
