Waste & recycling

When your bins go out, and how Gwydir Shire handles recycling and waste across Bingara, Warialda and the villages. Council runs a three-bin kerbside service with contractor JR Richards & Sons: a red-lidded general waste bin (140 L) collected weekly, and a yellow-lidded recycling bin (360 L) and green-lidded food-and-garden-organics bin (240 L, with a kitchen caddy) collected on alternating weeks, so each is fortnightly. Because this is a two-centre shire the collection day is different depending on where you live: Tuesday for Gravesend, Warialda Rail, North Star and Croppa Creek; Wednesday for Bingara; Thursday for Warialda. Kerbside collection is available in those urban areas plus small rural 'lifestyle' blocks; properties outside the collection area use one of the shire's eight landfills and transfer stations.

Bulky / hard waste
No kerbside bulky collection advertised — self-haul to a Council landfillCouncil's waste pages describe kerbside collection, landfills and drop-off but do not advertise a booked or free bulky kerbside service. Landfills have designated areas for mattresses and lounges, metals, timber, concrete and bricks, and green waste. Confirm current arrangements on 02 6724 2000.
