When your bins go out, and how Glen Innes Severn handles recycling and waste across Glen Innes and the villages. Council runs a two-bin kerbside service: a red-lidded general-waste bin collected weekly, and a yellow-lidded recycling bin collected fortnightly in the Glen Innes, Deepwater and Emmaville townships — and monthly, on the last Thursday of the month, in Glencoe. There is no green food-and-garden-organics (FOGO) bin yet; the council has a Go FOGO grant and a waste and resource recovery study running, with a rollout it has said is likely in 2027. Everything from the yellow bin goes to the Materials Recycling Facility at the Glen Innes Waste Facility. Bin collection at a glance
- General waste (red lid)
- WeeklyCollected weekly in the Glen Innes, Deepwater and Emmaville townships and in Glencoe. Bins should go out the night before; maximum bin weight is 70 kg and the lid must close fully.
- Recycling (yellow lid)
- Fortnightly — monthly in GlencoeEvery second week in Glen Innes, Deepwater and Emmaville; in Glencoe it is collected once a month, on the last Thursday. Council notes that Emmaville and Deepwater may still have green-lidded bins issued for recycling, which are being phased out.
- Not offered yet — rollout in planningGlen Innes Severn does not currently run a FOGO or garden-organics kerbside service. Council was awarded $145,500 under the NSW Government's Go FOGO grants program in April 2024, began a waste and resource recovery issues and opportunities study in 2025, and has said a rollout is likely to occur in 2027. Bins with green lids are not collected as general waste.
- Bulky / hard waste
- No kerbside collection — self-haul to a council waste facility (gate fees apply)Council operates waste facilities at Glen Innes (88 Rodgers Road), Emmaville, Deepwater and Red Range. The Glen Innes facility is the only one in the LGA that accepts tyres, mattresses and asbestos (ring at least 24 hours ahead for asbestos), and takes payment by EFTPOS only. Its Trash and Treasure shed resells reusable items dropped at the landfill.
- Problem waste & drop-off
- Community Recycling Centre, Glen Innes Waste Facility, 88 Rodgers RoadFree, year-round drop-off for household problem waste — gas bottles, paints, batteries, motor oils, smoke detectors, and fluorescent tubes and globes. Household quantities only; dangerous goods are not accepted. This is the only CRC in the LGA.

Kerbside collection is available in the Glen Innes, Deepwater and Emmaville townships and in Glencoe; properties outside those areas use the waste facilities. Kerbside collection runs as usual on public holidays, but the landfills close on several of them. Frequencies, facility hours and gate fees change — confirm on the official sources below.
