Waste & recycling
When your bins go out, and how Gilgandra Shire handles rubbish and recycling. Kerbside collection is a two-bin service run under contract by JR Richards & Sons, and it covers the Gilgandra township plus the villages of Tooraweenah and Armatree — properties outside those service areas take their waste to the tip. Each serviced household gets one waste bin emptied weekly and one recycling bin emptied fortnightly. In Gilgandra town, rubbish goes out Wednesday; Armatree and Tooraweenah are collected Monday. Recycling runs on three separate routes in town, so your recycling day depends on which route you are on — Council publishes a calendar and map rather than an address lookup. Everything else, from green waste to mattresses to farm chemical drums, goes to the Gilgandra Waste Facility on Pines Drive, which Council runs in partnership with Carlginda Enterprises.

- Bulky / hard waste
