Waste & recycling
When your bins go out, and how Georges River handles recycling and bulky waste. The council runs a three-bin kerbside service: a red-lid general-waste bin (120L) collected weekly, a yellow-lid recycling bin (240L) collected fortnightly, and a green-lid garden-organics bin (240L) collected fortnightly, alternating with recycling. The green bin is garden-organics only for now — there's no combined food-and-garden (FOGO) service yet, though the NSW Government has mandated FOGO for all households by July 2030. To find your collection day, use the council's online waste-services lookup.
