The council's stated direction

Georges River's direction is set out in Working Together for a Better Future — its Community Strategic Plan — with a Delivery Program and annual Operational Plan, most recently adopted in June 2025 alongside an expanded four-year (2025/26–2028/29) Capital Works Program of $150.9M.

The council delivers services across roads and footpaths, parks and open space, community facilities and libraries, waste, and planning across the merged Hurstville–Kogarah area, including its two Strategic Centres at Hurstville and Kogarah. Its Delivery Program is the elected council's statement of commitment for its term.

The 2025–26 budget funds a $150.9M four-year capital works program, including $10M for roads and footpaths, $9.5M for parks and recreation, and $13M for community buildings, childcare centres and sporting facilities.
