Shire profile
Gannawarra Shire is in northern Victoria, with the Murray River on its northern side and the Loddon River running through it. Its main towns are Kerang, where the council's main office is, and Cohuna, with Koondrook, Leitchville, Murrabit, Quambatook and Lalbert, and irrigated and dryland farms and lakes in between. The shire was gazetted on 20 January 1995, from the Borough of Kerang and most of the shires of Kerang and Cohuna.

We built the suburb list from the official Vicmap locality boundaries, keeping each locality with at least 5% of its area inside the council boundary and marking it '(part)' when part of it lies in a neighbouring council: Horfield about 94% inside, Meering West about 92%, Beauchamp about 89%, Macorna about 77%, Lake Meran about 68%, Leitchville about 66% (the township itself is served by Gannawarra), Tittybong about 59%, Meatian about 47%, Appin South about 39%, Gredgwin about 34% and Towaninny about 30%. The name in brackets is Vicmap's own, to tell Myall (Kerang) apart from other places of the same name. Postcodes come from Vicmap postcode boundaries. The shaded area on the map is the council boundary from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ASGS 2025) — the same boundary the ABS area and population figures are measured on.
