Waste & recycling
When your bins go out, and how Edward River Council handles recycling and waste in Deniliquin and the surrounding villages. Council runs a three-bin kerbside service for eligible households and some businesses: a green-lidded organics bin collected weekly, with the yellow-lidded recycling bin and the red-lidded general-waste bin collected on alternate fortnights. The three-bin service started in July 2024. There is no online address lookup for bin day — Council publishes a printable annual collection calendar (2026 edition below), also available from the Customer Service Centre at 180 Cressy Street. Larger loads go to the Deniliquin Landfill Depot on Tip Road, or to the village transfer stations at Pretty Pine, Conargo and Blighty.

- Bulky / hard waste
- No kerbside collection — a $52 landfill voucher per eligible household from 1 September 2026Council is replacing its long-running 'Free Waste Weekend' with a voucher system from 1 September 2026. Each eligible household (including renters, with proof of residency) receives a voucher worth $52 that can be used across multiple visits on any day the Deniliquin Landfill is open, with the balance tracked online. Outside the voucher, self-hauled loads are charged at the gate: $26 per m³ for general and mixed waste and $10.50 per m³ for green waste (2026–27).

- Deniliquin Landfill Depot (Tip Road, off Cobb Highway) and Blighty Waste Disposal Depot — both Community Recycling CentresFree drop-off of household quantities of gas bottles, fire extinguishers, paint, fluoro globes and tubes, household and car batteries, motor and other oils, smoke detectors, glass containers and cardboard. Maximum 20 kg / 20 L per container. Deniliquin Landfill is open 8.30am–1.00pm seven days; Blighty 1.00pm–5.00pm Thursday and Sunday. Transfer stations also operate at Pretty Pine (Wed & Sun, 9.00am–12.30pm) and Conargo (Wed & Sun, 1.30pm–5.00pm); the Wanganella and Booroorban rural landfills are key-access, with keys from the Customer Service Centre.

Kerbside collection covers Deniliquin and eligible properties in the surrounding area; village and rural residents outside the collection area use the depots and transfer stations. Bin frequencies, depot hours and gate fees can change — confirm your collection day and current charges on the official sources below.
