Report a problem to the council

Dungog Shire Council does not publish a single general-purpose online reporting form, so most issues go by phone or email to the council's administration office at 198 Dowling Street, Dungog. Bins are handled by the council's contractor rather than the council itself, and after-hours road and bridge incidents have their own number. Below is where each type of issue goes, plus an independent app that works for any council.

How to report it

Report to the council (official)
(02) 4995 7777, or shirecouncil@dungog.nsw.gov.auOffice hours 8.45am–4.30pm Monday to Friday. Covers roads, drainage, parks, rangers and animals, compliance, trees and general council matters. Reporting in writing gives you a record of what you asked for.
After-hours road or bridge emergency
0407 721 224For all after-hours incidents relating to local roads and bridges, including weather impacts such as flooding, fallen trees and washouts. Council notes this is a voice-call-only service — it does not receive text messages.
Missed or damaged bin
J R Richards & Sons — 1300 579 278 or Dungog.sm@jrrichards.com.auThe kerbside contractor handles missed collections and lid/wheel repairs (free) and bin replacements. Report a missed bin within 24 hours of your collection day. If it is not resolved — missed bins within 1–2 business days, repairs within 5 working days — the council asks you to contact it on (02) 4995 7777.
One app for any council
Snap Send SolveAn independent app that routes your report to the responsible council or authority. Not run by the council.
Not always the council's job
Faulty street lights → Essential EnergyEssential Energy is the electricity distributor across regional NSW and manages public lighting for Dungog Shire Council; it maintains and repairs the street-light network itself.
Road closures & conditions
Live Traffic NSWCouncil directs residents to livetraffic.com.au for current road and bridge closures across the shire — useful in flood and storm events in the Williams and Paterson valleys.

For urgent safety hazards, call rather than emailing. Snap Send Solve is an independent third-party app (not run by the council) that routes your report to the responsible authority.
