Waste & recycling

Corangamite's kerbside service covers the townships of Camperdown, Gnotuk, Cobden, Derrinallum, Lismore, Port Campbell, Simpson, Skipton, Terang, Noorat, Glenormiston and Timboon. The council describes it as a four-bin service: a red-lid rubbish bin collected weekly, a yellow-lid recycling bin collected fortnightly, a purple-lid glass bin collected monthly, and a green-lid organics bin collected fortnightly for most of the year and weekly from October to December. Eligible residential properties get one full service. Outside these townships, households use the council's regional landfill at Naroghid and its five transfer stations.

Bin collection at a glance

Rubbish (red lid)
Weekly, 120-litre binGeneral waste, which goes to landfill. Put the bin out before 6am on collection day; it is collected every week, including public holidays (other arrangements apply when collection falls on Christmas Day, New Year's Day or Good Friday — generally the next day).
Recycling (yellow lid)
Fortnightly, 240-litre binNo plastic bags in the recycling or organics bins, including recyclables bagged in plastic. The council may not collect a contaminated bin and leaves a notice explaining why.
Glass (purple lid)
Monthly, 120-litre binGlass bottles and jars only. Drinking glasses, cups, vases, window glass and crockery are not recyclable and go in the rubbish bin. The council announced in December 2023 that glass bins would be delivered in February 2024 and collections would start in March 2024. Since November 2025 the council has been trialling split-compartment trucks that collect glass and recycling together with its contractor, Wheelie Waste.
Organics (green lid)

Thursday: Camperdown (north of the Princes Highway), Cobden. Regional landfill and transfer stations
Corangamite Regional Landfill, 605 County Boundary West Road, Naroghid, plus transfer stations at Derrinallum, Port Campbell, Simpson, Skipton and TimboonThe landfill is open 7am–4pm weekdays, 10am–4pm Saturday and 10am–3pm Sunday; the transfer stations open on set afternoons (Skipton every second Wednesday and Sunday). E-waste
Free drop-off at the Naroghid landfill and the transfer stationsE-waste has been banned from Victorian landfill since 1 July 2019. The council says e-waste collected at its sites is processed by Western District Employment Access (WDEA). Fluorescent tubes are not accepted.
Bulky / hard waste
