Area profile
A quick snapshot of Corangamite Shire, in south-west Victoria. It runs from the coast at Port Campbell and Princetown — including the Twelve Apostles — north to Skipton near Ballarat, with Lake Corangamite on its eastern edge. Camperdown is the council's seat; the other main towns are Cobden, Terang, Timboon, Port Campbell, Simpson, Derrinallum, Lismore and Skipton, with smaller towns including Noorat, Darlington and Princetown. The Shire was formed in 1994 by amalgamating the Shires of Hampden and Heytesbury and the Town of Camperdown.
