Report a problem to the council

The quickest way to get something fixed — a pothole, dumped rubbish, a missed bin — is to lodge it through the council's official channel. Below is where to report each type of issue, plus an independent app that works for any council.

Report to the council (official)
Customer service: (02) 4993 4100Or lodge a customer request through the council's website; the council's Contact Us page lists the online options.
Bin problems
General waste: (02) 4993 4100 · Organics (FOGO): 1800 870 250Missed general-waste bins go through council customer service; food/garden-organics service enquiries go to the organics contractor.
One app for any council
Snap Send SolveAn independent app that routes your report to the responsible council. Not run by the council.
Not always the council's job
Faulty street lights → AusgridCessnock is in Ausgrid's network area; Ausgrid maintains the street-lighting network. The council maintains the pole in some cases; the energy distributor fixes the light itself. Some outlying rural areas may fall in Essential Energy's area — check your bill.

For urgent safety hazards, call rather than filling in a form. Snap Send Solve is an independent third-party app (not run by the council) that routes your report to the responsible authority.
